Head Lice Helpers’ uses natural methods to help families get rid of head lice




In Chicago, Hair Fairies is one of the company’s seven U.S. locations that combat kids head lice with a natural non-toxic method. The kid-friendly salon at 2336 N. Clark St., in the Lincoln Park neighborhood, uses lice combs (fine-toothed metal combs, sometimes with tiny blades at the base) and non-toxic shampoos to remove nits and lice from their clients’ hair according to Hair Fairies manager, Brandon Rudolph.

He also said that Hair Fairies technicians use natural ingredients to loosen up the nits (lice eggs) so they come off the clients’ hair easier. "We use tea tree oil, lavender, marshmallow roots, sage and witch hazel," Rudolph said of the type of ingredients the company uses to remove head lice.
According to Rudolph Hair Fairies method of removing head lice is more efficient than head lice shampoos comprised of chemical substances. "I've had parents say that they've used it for two, three weeks and it still hasn't gone away and they come to us,” he said. "

He also said within a five day period Hair Fairies technician’s help kids become lice free. Rudolph said Hair Fairies advises their clients to a do a monthly check of their kid’s hair for head lice.

“We offer monthly free screenings," he said.
